Methley
Park Hospital, front view, 1984.
The hospital was opened to patients on
the second of December 1984. There were beds for thirty-two patients and
2 mother/child rooms. Built in a clearing in Methley Park Wood along a
drive leading from Methley Lane, this was one of the main entrances to
Methley Hall and here, adjoining the drive and Methley Lane, stood the
North Lodge. The old drive went straight up through the deerpark to the
courtyard of Methley Hall.
The hospital also provides a day unit, operating theatre, out-patient
services, radiology and physiotherapy facilities. One wing became a convalescent
or geriatric unit in 1986.
